Department of Mechanical Engineering

Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in 2009 in IES College of Technology and under- graduate course started with initial intake of 60 students. The intake was increased to 120 in 2011 due to excellent results obtained. Further impetus was given to the department in 2013 by way of introduction of post graduate courses .Department of Mechanical Engineering is working with the objective to enable the students to acquire scientific knowledge, as well as provide a basis for their personal, social and cognitive development. The department is continuously taking efforts to impart state of the art education to students. Department has well equipped laboratories e.g. Strength of Materials, Fluid mechanics Hydraulics, Thermodynamics, Theory of Machine, Dynamics of Machine, Heat & Mass Transfer, Refrigeration & Air conditioning, Metal Cutting & CNC, CAD/ CAM, & SIM Lab etc. Department has qualified & experienced faculty for teaching & guiding the students for their project/ research work. Mr. Gaurav Jaiswal and Mr Akash Tilwani received Chancellor’s Scholarship for being topper in University Exam in year 2015.

PEO 1: Work as a Mechanical engineer professional in the area of design, manufacturing, power plant or allied fields by applying practical & fundamental knowledge.

PEO 2: Engage in research or take up higher studies in any of the emerging technologies and contribute towards enhancement of scientific knowledge.

PEO 3: Develop start-up using innovative ideas or solution for societal problems turning into an entrepreneur.

Program Specific Outcomes (PSOs)

PSO-1: To enhance the students’ knowledge base with theory and practice in Mechanical Engineering and prepare them to solve real-life mechanical engineering problems with innovative solutions.
PSO-2: To inculcate in-depth knowledge and training in Mechanical Engineering to ensure that the students acquire core competency to be ready for the industry, industry and research organizations.

PSO-3: To enrich an academic environment for the students to inculcate lifelong learning skills along with ethics for the benefit of society.

PO-1: Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.
PO-2: Problem analysis: Problem analysis: Identity, formulates, research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.
PO-3: Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.
PO-4: Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research-based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

Prof. (Dr.) Gurjeet Singh

Head of the Department 

Dr. Gurjeet Singh, Head of Department, Mechanical Engineering at IES College of Technology, Bhopal completed his PhD from Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology Bhopal in 2020, titled “Studiesonprocessoptimization ofplasticinjectionmoldingmethodusinghybridtechniques”. He did his M.Tech in Production Engineering from Motilal National Institute of Technology, Allahabad, in 2011 tiled “Crack initiation and propagation in a under thermal fatigue loading”. He is a highly energetic, dynamic and self-motivated person with 15 Years of teaching experience. He has published more than 20 research publications in National and International Journals and conference proceedings including SCI and Scopus. He is a Life Fellow member of International Association of Engineers (IAENG), Soft Computing Research Society & SAE India. He is also a reviewer of many Journals.

He has reviewed 1 Ph.D. and 20 dissertations at the PG level. His research and development areas are Plastic manufacturing Process, Fatigue and Fracture, Nano Polymer Composites & Heat exchanger Process.” He has been awarded certification in Trainer by National Skill Development cooperation in Machine Learning & Data Science. He guided 06 M. Tech Students as a supervisor and 03 Ph.D (Ongoing) as a Co-Supervisior.

Dr. Gurjeet Singh is the advisory committee member of International Conference On Data Science and Artificial Intelligence application by Gobi Arts & Science CollegeVellangattupalayam, Tamil Nadu 638452. He works as the Programme Coordinator for conduction of Expert lecture, Short term training Programme& Faculty Development Programme at different institutes. Also He has conducted many training Programme on Electrical Vehicle & ANSYS. Also He gives his expert session in different Colleges such as Swami vivekanand Institute of Technology Indore on the Topic of Plastic manufacturing Process. He has handled position of responsibilities such as Head of Department, PG Coordinator and Research Coordinator, Principal Polytechnic etc. at various institution. He ishighly skilled and leading field experts of national level.

Dr. Goga has published in several SCI, Scopus Indexed Journals as well as Non SCI/Scopus journals and has attended as well have delivered the keynote address, at many national and international conferences. He has been conference session chair as well as instrumental in organizing various conferences. Dr. Goga has also delivered several expert lectures at national and international forums as well as attended various technical and faculty development program. He has also visited abroad for paper presentation at international conferences.

As a Departmental Head, Dr. Gurjeet Singh provides a cooperative and helpful environment to the faculty members, and gives the best guidance to the students of Mechanical Engineering. He ensures proper theoretical, technical and practical exposure to students makes them competent as per the global benchmarks..
